Assemblyman Kim Hoe-jae, "We Will Do Our Best to Ensure the Smooth Progress of Gyeongdo Development"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Kim Hoe-jae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Yeosu-eul, Jeonnam), attended the 'Yeosu Gyeongdo Marine Tourism Complex Development Groundbreaking Ceremony' held on the development site of Gyeongdo, Yeosu City, on the 11th.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Representative Kim said, "The 21st century is the century of cultural tourism. Cultural tourism resources create national power, and tourism capabilities determine the economic strength of a country," adding, "In that sense, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Yeosu Gyeongdo Marine Tourism Complex is very meaningful."
He continued, "Yeosu has already emerged as the nation's top marine tourism and resort city, attracting 13 million visitors annually. The development of Gyeongdo will be a valuable opportunity for Yeosu to leap to a higher level and become a global marine tourism hub," and stated, "I will do my best to secure the budget for the access road (land bridge) project in the National Assembly to ensure the smooth progress of the Gyeongdo development."

Meanwhile, the Gyeongdo Marine Tourism Complex, to be developed in the Gyeongdo area (2.14㎢, approximately 640,000 pyeong), will see the Mirae Asset consortium invest 1.5 trillion won to build hotels, condos, commercial facilities, and more. It is expected to attract over 3.85 million domestic and international tourists annually, create employment for 14,969 people, and generate production effects exceeding 1.8 trillion won.
