Professor at Kyung Hee University Arrested and Indicted for Sexual Assault of Graduate Student Mentee
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A professor at Kyung Hee University who was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a drunken graduate student has been indicted in custody.
The Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Joon-sik) announced on the 12th that Professor A of Kyung Hee University, accused of quasi-rape, has been indicted in custody.
Professor A is accused of sexually assaulting graduate student B after drinking together in November last year, when B lost consciousness. B immediately reported Professor A to the police after the incident. The Mapo Police Station in Seoul forwarded the case to the prosecution in March with a recommendation for indictment without detention.

The prosecution considered Professor A's charges serious and requested an arrest warrant on the 29th of last month. The court issued an arrest warrant for Professor A on the 3rd of this month, citing concerns over evidence tampering and flight risk.
