According to the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency on the 12th, A is currently under investigation without detention on charges of child abuse.
A is suspected not only of neglecting the abuse of the deceased child by his cohabiting partner but also of directly inflicting violence on the child from last year until recently.
It is reported that A largely admitted to the child abuse, including hitting the child, during the police investigation.
However, the police believe that A is not related to the incident in which the child was trapped and died inside the bag, as it was confirmed that A was outside the house at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, the victim child was found trapped inside a travel bag measuring 44 cm in width and 60 cm in length at an apartment in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan City, around 7:25 p.m. on the 1st. The child was taken to a hospital for treatment but ultimately passed away around 6:30 p.m. on the 3rd, two days later.
Police investigations revealed that A’s cohabiting partner left the child confined in the travel bag for seven hours, including going out for three hours after locking the child inside.
