Government, KOTRA, and FNC Hold First Online '2020 Global Hallyu Expo'
"Non-face-to-face Export Consultations, Promotions, and Hallyu Performances... Leading Post-Corona Marketing"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, KOTRA, and FNC Entertainment (FNC) announced that they will jointly hold the '2020 Global Hallyu Expo' from the 13th through the end of August.
This event will focus on supporting online non-face-to-face marketing for about 500 companies offering seven promising export products and services related to quarantine and home economy, which can actively leverage the image of exemplary quarantine countries amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Specifically, the seven product categories are home beauty, health foods, home cooking, clean home appliances, medical supplies, hygiene products, and digital devices. Companies providing services such as health clothing and edutech are also eligible for support.
First, marketing will be conducted using Hallyu ambassadors. AOA, N.Flying, and SF9 have been appointed as ambassadors. During performances, the beauty and fashion styling and preferences of Hallyu stars will be showcased to link with product promotion.
YouTube online broadcasts will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on the 13th and from 2 to 3 a.m. on the 14th. Highlight videos will be uploaded on KOTRA’s YouTube channel until August 31.
An online exclusive pavilion will be established and video consultations will be held. A dedicated pavilion for the 2020 Global Hallyu Expo will be set up on the BuyKorea website. Four themed pavilions will be installed: consumer goods, home economy, edutech, and COVID-19 diagnostic kits.
Product information from consumer goods and service companies related to overcoming COVID-19 will be posted to facilitate easy access for overseas buyers.
One-on-one video consultations will be promoted with buyers discovered through 127 overseas trade centers in 84 countries.
Online promotional events will be conducted in collaboration with overseas global distribution networks. Partnerships will be formed with well-known online shopping malls in countries with strong Hallyu promotional effects such as China, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
A dedicated Korean consumer goods pavilion will be established within these shopping malls, and various promotions using Hallyu star images will be conducted to enhance local consumer awareness of the products from participating companies.
