Gwangju Injawei Holds Work-Learning Parallel Program Briefing for KEPCO Energy Valley Partner Companies
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Regional Human Resources Development Committee (Co-Chairmen: Jo In-cheol, Vice Mayor of Culture and Economy of Gwangju Metropolitan City, Choi Jong-man, Executive Vice Chairman of Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hereinafter Gwangju HRD Committee) Work-Learning Dual System Specialized Support Center announced on the 11th that it held the '2020 KEPCO Energy Valley Agreement Companies Specialized Work-Learning Dual System Company Support Briefing' at the 2nd floor conference room of the Energy Valley Enterprise Development Institute.
The briefing was hosted by the Gwangju HRD Committee and supported by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. The Work-Learning Dual System Joint Training Centers including Gwangju University Industrial Human Resources Education Center, Gwangju Human Resources Development Institute of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea Polytechnics Gwangju Campus, and Geumpa Technical High School jointly held the event with about 50 executives and employees from KEPCO Energy Valley agreement companies and local enterprises attending.
In particular, the event introduced ▲ major policy changes in the Work-Learning Dual System for 2020 ▲ support details from the Work-Learning Dual System Joint Training Centers by job category, and conducted customized one-on-one on-site consulting for each company.
Choi Jong-man, Chairman of the Gwangju HRD Committee, said, “We hope that Energy Valley agreement and resident companies will grow further by utilizing various corporate support systems during these difficult times due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will support the successful implementation of the project by communicating with related Work-Learning Dual System institutions and participating companies.”
The Work-Learning Dual System is an education and training system designed to fit the Korean context based on workplace learning models that are spreading worldwide, such as the German apprenticeship system and the Australian and British traineeship systems. As of the end of last year, 15,369 companies and 91,195 workers have participated in the Work-Learning Dual System.

The Gwangju Work-Learning Dual System Specialized Support Center has been established within the Gwangju HRD Committee since 2015 to promote the spread of the Work-Learning Dual System. It has been making efforts to smoothly advance the project and expand the system, receiving an 'A' grade for two consecutive years.
