Pukyong National University boldly decided to reduce rent to support on-campus tenant companies struggling with management due to the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The university announced on the 11th that it will reduce rent by up to 80% until the end of this year for 126 companies located on campus. Tenant companies only need to pay 20% of the agreed rent for a total of 9 months.
The rent reduction applies to 126 companies, including 72 tenant companies at the Startup Incubation Center on Pukyong National University’s Yongdang Campus and 54 tenant companies in Dragon Valley. The total reduction amount reaches 226 million KRW.
The Pukyong National University Startup Incubation Center supports prospective entrepreneurs and early-stage startups. The center decided to provide 146 million KRW, equivalent to 80% of the rent for 72 tenant companies, from April to December.
The center plans to pay this amount as management support funds on the 12th to help early-stage startups quickly overcome urgent financial and employment difficulties caused by the spread of COVID-19.
The Dragon Valley Support Center also took action for ‘Good Rent.’ It decided to reduce 80% of the rent portion of the monthly tenant management fees for Dragon Valley tenant companies from April to December.
Dragon Valley houses companies preparing to become strong small and medium enterprises through university-industry cooperation. With this rent reduction, all 54 companies residing there are expected to receive a total benefit of 80 million KRW.
