Installation of Specimen Collection Booths Separating Medical Staff and Test Subjects at Health Centers in 25 Districts
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 10th that it will support the installation of 'Glove Wall' specimen collection booths to safely operate autonomous district screening clinics, which are at the forefront of medical quarantine during the hot summer weather, and to protect medical staff.
The Glove Wall specimen collection booth, proactively introduced by Seoul City at public screening clinics, is a method where the examinee stays outside a transparent acrylic wall, and the medical staff reach through holes equipped with plastic gloves to collect specimens. The movement paths of medical staff and examinees are completely separated, and even when air conditioning is operated, the space is divided to prevent cross-infection.
In particular, the city explained that since medical staff do not have direct contact with suspected patients, they do not need to wear Level D protective suits that cover the entire body, allowing for safe and rapid testing.
The city plans to support the installation of Glove Wall booths in all 25 districts and have each autonomous district install the booths in outdoor spaces of public health center screening clinics according to their circumstances.
With this support for Glove Wall booths, the city expects to block infection concerns caused by droplet spread when operating air conditioners at autonomous district screening clinics during summer and to prevent exhaustion caused by wearing Level D protective suits among medical staff.

Park Won-soon, Mayor of Seoul, said, "In response to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, we will support the installation of Glove Wall booths in all autonomous districts to prepare for the summer season and ensure safe operation of screening clinics and protection of medical staff."
