On the 10th, Ambassador Xing Haiming, the Chinese Ambassador to Korea, said at a webinar (AMB Insights) hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry for foreign ambassadors in Korea, "The visit of President Xi Jinping to Korea, which has been promoted since the first half of this year, is currently under consultation between the two governments," adding, "If an atmosphere is created where both countries strive to promote practical exchanges and cooperation, it will naturally be realized."
During the live broadcast event, Ambassador Xing gave a presentation titled "Prospects for Korea-China Relations after the Chinese Two Sessions," introducing the results of the 2020 Chinese Two Sessions and major economic construction projects, and explaining Korea-China economic issues such as the "Fast Track for Entry of Korea-China Businesspeople."
He explained, "The reason for not setting an economic growth target at this year's Chinese Two Sessions (National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) is to prioritize the stabilization of people's livelihood," adding, "To ensure job stability, promote consumption, revitalize the market, and achieve stable growth, the government will increase the fiscal deficit and issue special government bonds to secure funds."
He continued, "The 'China New Deal (economic construction plan),' which includes 'new infrastructure construction' aimed at upgrading industrial structure and strengthening technological competitiveness, is scheduled to have a budget of 8 trillion yuan (approximately 1,360 trillion won) executed within this year alone, and plans to invest 48.6 trillion yuan (approximately 8,262 trillion won) nationwide over the next five years."
Ambassador Xing emphasized, "'New infrastructure construction' is a project to expand infrastructure in information and communication fields such as 5G, industrial internet, artificial intelligence, big data, as well as advanced technology application fields and science and industrial technology sectors," adding, "In terms of investment methods, investors, and market openness, it differs from before and can present great business opportunities for Korean companies, so we hope for much interest."
Regarding the Korea-China fast track (simplified entry procedure for businesspeople) implemented since the 1st of last month, he evaluated it as "a green light signaling the resumption of necessary economic exchanges between the two countries, realized through the agreement between the Korea-China leaders," and stated, "Since the introduction of the system, about 1,000 Korean businesspeople have entered China using the fast track system."
