"Mocking Annoyance Spat by an Outsider"... Jang Je-won Targets Kim Jong-in Again
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Jang Je-won, a member of the Future United Party, sharply criticized Kim Jong-in, the party’s emergency committee chairman, calling his remarks "mocking irritation uttered by an outsider."
On the 10th, Jang wrote on Facebook under the title "After listening to Governor Won Hee-ryong of Jeju Province’s lecture," saying, "His confident and positive message made me feel that conservatism is still alive."
The day before, Governor Won delivered a lecture to the "Republic of Korea Future Innovation Forum" led by Jang, emphasizing the need to revive the conservative gene that has driven change throughout Korea’s history and stressed the restoration of "conservative values." He also compared Chairman Kim to "Hiddink" and a "mercenary," stating, "Victory should not come through mercenaries but by wearing the conservative uniform."
Regarding this lecture, Jang relayed, "'Our conservatives wanted to hear these words,' 'Our conservatives have been waiting for these words,' said a citizen who listened to Governor Won’s lecture," and evaluated it as "a vigorous hand extended to the conservative forces who had been lying down lonely with nowhere to lean after the crushing defeat in the general election."
He continued, "It is not the mocking irritation uttered by some outsider saying, 'I hate conservatives,' or 'Don’t use the word conservative,'" and emphasized, "With the confidence of a rooted conservative legitimate politician, he said, 'The name of conservatism is our gene that we can never give up,' and 'We discover the dynamism of conservatism that boldly led change in Korea’s history.'" He referred to Chairman Kim as an "outsider" and described Kim’s remarks, which lead the party’s "deconservatism" by saying "I hate conservatism," as "mocking irritation."
Jang has consistently criticized Chairman Kim and the emergency committee system through Facebook. On the 8th, he pointed out, "Since Chairman Kim came in, the party’s fighting power against the ruling party has significantly weakened. It has lost its wildness," and on the 6th, he criticized, "Chairman Kim’s week was a splendid feast with nothing to eat, wounding the support base and providing prey to the opposing camp."

Meanwhile, on the 10th, Chairman Kim held a meeting with senior lawmakers to listen to their opinions. This appears to be in response to growing dissatisfaction among senior party members as he puts first-term and 30-40s youth members at the forefront. Within the party, there are quite a few senior members who indirectly express resentment toward Chairman Kim’s remark to "stop using the word conservative."
