Minister Kang said, "I find it meaningful that on May 29th, the first anniversary of the Hungarian ship accident, memorial events and an award ceremony for our rescue team were held in Budapest and Seoul respectively," and expressed gratitude to Minister Szijj?rt? for attending the memorial event and offering condolences.
In response, Minister Szijj?rt? reiterated Hungary's condolences and stated, "We will continue to take an active interest and cooperate in holding memorial events attended by the bereaved families and in the process of determining responsibility for the accident."
Furthermore, Minister Kang evaluated that the spread of COVID-19 in Hungary is being managed relatively stably, and explained that although the situation in Korea has also stabilized, there is a possibility of re-spread centered on some workplaces recently, so vigilance is maintained and responses are ongoing.
Minister Kang said, "We appreciate Hungary's support in repatriating our citizens and the exceptional full allowance of Korean businesspeople's entry into Hungary during the COVID-19 response process."
The Hungarian government, through a government decree on April 30th, fully allowed the entry of Korean nationals who are businesspeople in five neighboring countries: the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Austria, and Slovakia.
Minister Szijj?rt? explained, "Last year, Korea became the largest investor in Hungary," emphasizing that Korean companies' investment in Hungary is very important for Korea-Hungary bilateral relations.
