Investigations into paid members related to Baksa Bang are continuing to expand, with additional cryptocurrency electronic wallets used by Jo Joo-bin to recruit members being discovered.
A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official stated on the 8th, “Jo Joo-bin’s cellphone has been unlocked, but there is currently no material that supports new crimes,” adding, “Some identification cards were found through cellphone analysis, but it needs to be further verified whether those individuals were involved in the Baksa Bang crimes.”
The police have booked 20 people including the operator Jo Joo-bin and accomplices related to Baksa Bang, and 18 of them have been transferred to prosecution. The remaining two are also nearing the end of investigation, and a decision on their custody is expected soon.
As the investigation into the main culprit and accomplices is practically in its final stage, the police plan to focus on investigating paid and unpaid members of Baksa Bang. So far, about 60 paid members have been booked. Among them, 13 investigations have been concluded, with 12 referred to the prosecution with indictments, and one confirmed to be residing overseas, resulting in suspension of prosecution. A police official explained, “The number of booked paid members may increase further.”
