A Deaf Person in Their 50s Dies in Busan House Fire
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] A fire broke out in a two-story house in Yeonje-gu, Busan, and was extinguished within 25 minutes. A man in his 50s with a hearing impairment was found dead in the room where the fire started.
At around 1:40 a.m. on the 7th, a fire occurred in a two-story house in Yeonje-gu, Busan. The fire burned an area of 10㎡ inside before being extinguished.
A Mr. A (54) was found dead in the room where the fire started. Mr. A's elderly parents, who were in the adjacent room, evacuated outside.
Mr. A's parents told the police, "We fell asleep around midnight, but heard a 'bang' sound from the next room, and when we came out of the room, there was thick black smoke."
Since Mr. A had a hearing impairment, he may not have heard the explosion sound and thus might not have detected the fire quickly.
