Chilgok-gun Achieves Highest Government Evaluation Score, Ranked No.1 in Gyeongbuk... Remarkable Progress by a 9th Grade Origin County Governor
At the government joint city and county evaluation awards ceremony held on the 4th at Anmin Hall, Gyeongbuk Provincial Office, Baek Seon-gi, the county governor, and other Chilgok County officials are taking a commemorative photo after receiving the grand prize.

At the government joint city and county evaluation awards ceremony held the previous day at Anmingwan in Gyeongbuk Province, Chilgok-gun received the grand prize and was awarded a prize money of 200 million won. In this evaluation, Chilgok-gun received high marks across all administrative areas, achieving a score of 417.8 points, which is 45.9 points higher than the Gyeongbuk provincial average of 371.9 points.
The Government Joint Evaluation is an assessment conducted to check the progress of national and provincial delegated tasks and major policies promoted by cities and counties, and to improve the quality of administrative services.
Before Baek Seon-gi, the county governor, took office in 2011, Chilgok-gun remained in the middle to lower ranks, but since ranking second in 2014, it has been awarded excellence for five consecutive years and rose to first place for the first time this year.

Governor Baek is a remarkable figure who started his public service career as a high school graduate working as a township office employee, earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Korea National Open University and Kyungpook National University while working on the front lines of administration, and was elected as county governor through a by-election in October 2011 while serving as vice governor, now serving his third term.
