Jeonnam Fire Department Uncovers Numerous Violations at Construction Sites
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Numerous safety violations were detected at large construction sites in Jeonnam Province.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 4th that 47 violations were found following a special inspection of large construction sites in the province.
This inspection was conducted over four weeks starting from the 4th of last month, targeting 118 construction sites in the province with a total floor area of over 3,000㎡ and a progress rate of over 50%, to prevent a recurrence of the warehouse fire accident that occurred in Icheon last April.
Particular focus was placed on the proper installation of temporary fire-fighting facilities, crackdowns on unauthorized hazardous materials, and fire prevention measures during welding and cutting operations.
As a result of the inspection, Jeonnam Fire Headquarters imposed 7 fines and issued 40 administrative orders for corrective actions on 33 construction sites with violations.
The main violations included breaches of hazardous materials storage and handling standards and failure to install temporary fire-fighting facilities.
Jeonnam Fire Headquarters plans to thoroughly manage construction sites through regular unannounced inspections and take legal action when violations are detected to ensure safe construction sites.
