Yeosu Chamber of Commerce Job Support Center Launches 'Youth Job Matching Support Project'
Expectations for Improved Youth Employment Rates through Quality Education Provision
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Yeosu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Park Yong-ha), together with Yeosu City, has been conducting the ‘Youth Job Matching Support Project’ since March this year. The ‘Youth Job Matching Support Project’ is operated by the ‘Job Support Center’ established last year by the Yeosu Chamber of Commerce and Industry to resolve local labor shortages and job mismatches.
The ‘Youth Job Matching Support Project’ targets unemployed individuals aged 19 to 39 residing in Yeosu and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Participants receive full support for education expenses and complete training programs for professional certification at Yeosu Heavy Equipment Academy, New Hana Computer Academy, and Yeosu Vocational School. Additionally, companies that hire participants trained through this project can receive partial wage support for six months.
The fields in which participants will receive training through this project mainly include forklift operator certification, CAD, hazardous materials certification, and other areas with high demand in the Yeosu region. The trainees selected through recruitment will be employed by local SMEs after completing their education.
A representative of the Yeosu Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated, “The ‘Youth Job Matching Support Project’ is expected to play a significant role in alleviating the labor shortage of local SMEs,” adding, “We will do our best to successfully carry out this year’s Youth Job Matching Support Project,” and “We will continue to provide stable jobs to unemployed local youth and support their economic independence, making this a stepping stone for mutual growth between the region and businesses.”
