Korea Automobile Journalists Association Selects 'Renault Capture' as Car of the Month for June
[Asia Economy Reporter Su-yeon Woo] The Korea Automobile Journalists Association announced on the 3rd that the Renault Capture was selected as the Car of the Month for June this year.
The Korea Automobile Journalists Association explained that the Renault Capture, Audi Q3, and Porsche 911, which were released last month, were nominated for Car of the Month for June, and after fierce competition, the Renault Capture was finally selected as the Car of the Month by scoring 17 points (out of 25 points).
Each of the five evaluation categories was rated on a scale of 1 to 5 points, and the Capture recorded an average of 3.4 points (out of 5 points) across the five categories, receiving excellent scores overall. In particular, it received 4 points in the exterior design category and 3.7 points in the product practicality category.
Ryu Jong-eun, chairman of the Car of the Year selection committee, evaluated, "The Renault Capture stands out especially with its sensuous interior and exterior design reflecting French sensibility, and it is a compact SUV that combines safety, comfort, and practicality by adopting driving safety features as standard across all trims."
The Car of the Year selection committee under the Korea Automobile Journalists Association selects candidate vehicles by comprehensively evaluating five categories?exterior design, interior, product practicality, safety and convenience features, and marketability and purchase intention?for new cars and facelift models released during the month from the 1st to the end of each month. Then, among these candidates, the committee executives vote to select the best vehicle.

The Journalists Association has been selecting and announcing the Car of the Month since May last year, and this year, the Kia K5 (January 2020), Genesis GV80 (February), The New Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan (March), Genesis G80 (April), and Hyundai All New Avante (May) have been honored as Cars of the Month. The association has 54 member media outlets, including leading domestic daily newspapers, broadcasters, news agencies, online platforms, and automotive specialty magazines, with about 200 journalists affiliated with these members actively participating.
