Gwangju Dong-gu Provides Free Dementia Screening for Senior Job Participants
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 2nd that free dementia screenings will be conducted until the 15th for more than 2,700 elderly participants in the senior job project, following the transition of COVID-19 infection rules to 'everyday social distancing.'
This project is a replacement for the annual 'Visiting Dong Mobile Dementia Screening' conducted by Dong-gu. Considering that seniors aged 60 and over are a high-risk group for infection, the screening dates are set in advance and carried out through a 1:1 reservation system to minimize contact with the target group and comply with quarantine guidelines.
The screening, conducted at the Dong-gu Dementia Safety Center, is linked with the Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Group (formerly Chosun University Dementia National Research Group) and includes ▲ dementia screening test (MMSE-DS) ▲ dementia genetic test (oral epithelial cells). Depending on the screening results, seniors showing risk factors will receive additional free detailed tests such as ▲ SNSB test (neuropsychological test) ▲ MRI test ▲ amyloid PET test.
