Gyeonggi Fire Department, 430 Prospective Firefighters Participate in 'Blood Donation'
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] A total of 430 firefighters about to be commissioned participated in blood donation.
Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy announced on the 2nd that it held a blood donation event with trainees and staff at the Gyeonggi Fire Academy sports ground located in Yongin. On this day, 430 prospective firefighters who will be appointed on the 6th participated.
Kwon Dae-yoon, head of Gyeonggi Fire Academy, explained, "This blood donation was carried out as trainees united their intentions to stabilize blood supply after blood donations sharply declined due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, causing disruptions in blood supply to medical institutions."
Lee Jin-su, a trainee who proposed the appointment commemorative blood donation service, said, "Since everyone is participating in making a safe Republic of Korea, we agreed with our peers to do blood donation service to commemorate the moment of taking the first step as firefighters."
The trainees entered on February 24 and completed 15 weeks of training under restrictions on weekend outings and leaves due to the spread of coronavirus infection.
