NHN and HDC Hyundai Development Company to Promote 'Smart City Platform' Project
Providing AI, IoT, and Other Technologies Centered on the Cloud
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] NHN announced on the 2nd that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HDC Hyundai Development Company to jointly promote the 'Smart City Platform' project.
According to the MOU, the two companies will seek strategic cooperation to promote joint development projects including the smart city platform business and actively expand mutual exchanges. The main areas of cooperation include the joint establishment of a smart city platform center, the creation of pilot complexes, and joint development to secure new markets. Additionally, to ensure smooth cooperation, a working-level consultative body involving experts from both companies will be formed soon.
NHN plans to provide the necessary technologies for building the smart city platform, centered on its proprietary cloud service 'TOAST', including artificial intelligence (AI) and home Internet of Things (IoT).

NHN was recently selected as a private sector participant in the consortium for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '2020 Smart City Challenge Preliminary Project'. An NHN official stated, "We will lead the digital transformation of urban residential environments in the post-COVID era."
