View original image[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] Last year’s Genesis Award winner Moon Kyung-jun (38, Husem) and prize money king Lee Soo-min (27, Srixon) proved to be a perfect match.
On the 1st, at the Tiger Course (par 72) of Plaza Golf Club in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, the 'KPGA (Korean Professional Golfers' Association) 2-on-2 Skins Game (total prize money 100 million KRW)' concluded with a thrilling comeback victory over 2018 prize money king Park Sang-hyun (37, Dong-A Pharmaceutical) and rookie king Ham Jung-woo (26, Hana Financial Group). Moon Kyung-jun especially made a dramatic birdie on the final 18th hole (par 4) to win a precious 20 million KRW. They took home 56 million KRW out of the 100 million KRW, defeating the opposing team who earned 44 million KRW.
The prize money earned by each team was donated to designated charities. This was a special event to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and raise funds. It was held under the subtitle 'Raising Money for COVID-19 Relief.' Hana Financial Group, a Korean Tour partner, and Genesis sponsored the event. A certain amount of prize money was at stake on each hole, and the team with the best performance won the skin.
In the first half, Lee Soo-min was on fire. Following an eagle shot on the 1st hole (par 5), he secured birdies on the 6th hole (par 4) and the 9th hole (par 5). Lee Soo-min and Moon Kyung-jun pulled far ahead with 34 million KRW to 12 million KRW by the 14th hole (par 4). Park Sang-hyun and Ham Jung-woo won the 15th to 17th holes, each worth 8 million KRW, turning the tables with 44 million KRW to 36 million KRW. However, Moon Kyung-jun showed his clutch instincts on the 18th hole. After sinking a 7-meter birdie putt, he clenched his fist in triumph.
