Imsil-gun Accelerates Customized Safe Farming Practices by Crop Type
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil County is accelerating the ‘Crop-Specific Customized Safety Management Practice Pilot Project’ to create a safe working environment for farmers.
The Crop-Specific Customized Safety Management Practice Pilot Project is a project aimed at diagnosing and improving agricultural work risk factors considering the work stages of each crop, preventing agricultural work accidents, enhancing safety, and strengthening farmers' own safety management capabilities.
Accordingly, Imsil County selected 16 members of the Imsil Strawberry Crop Group as pilot project participants and appointed Dr. Donghyun Lee as an agricultural work safety expert consultant to conduct consulting for agricultural work risk assessment, improvement, and countermeasure establishment.
In addition, to eliminate agricultural work risk factors in advance, the county has distributed four types of safety equipment such as pesticide safety storage boxes and agricultural tool organizers, as well as six types of safety protective gear including pesticide control suits and pesticide poisoning prevention masks.
Meanwhile, the county invited Song Myeonghee, director of the Jeonbuk Industrial Health Research Institute, to conduct safety and health education three times from the 3rd to the 17th of this month, covering musculoskeletal disorders, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, agricultural work tick-borne infectious diseases, and health stretching.
Kim Seonggyu, director of the Rural Support Division, stated, “Through the Crop-Specific Customized Safety Management Practice Pilot Project, it is expected to improve harmful factors in agricultural work, create a safe agricultural work environment, and enhance agricultural work efficiency.”
He added, “We will continue to support raising farmers' safety awareness and creating a safe and comfortable agricultural work environment.”
