[Breaking] "Purchase Regardless of Day" Public Mask 5-Day Rotation System Abolished Starting Today
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] With the abolition of the 'Mask 5-Day Rotation System,' which required purchasing masks on specific days based on birth year, starting today (1st), public masks can be purchased regardless of the day of the week.
According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, from today, anyone can visit pharmacies nationwide and Nonghyup Hanaro Mart (excluding Seoul and Gyeonggi) on any desired day, regardless of birth year, to purchase public masks at any time.
This change comes as the government has removed the 5-day rotation system card due to improved supply conditions, despite the mask shortage caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
The purchasing method remains the same. To prevent duplicate purchases, buyers must present an ID to verify their identity and can buy masks on a weekly basis.

The purchase limit has been increased to 5 masks for students in elementary, middle, and high schools under 18 years old, as well as kindergarteners (those born after 2002). This measure is to support safe school life for students attending in-person classes.
