People Party: "Yoon Mi-hyang's excuses abound... A press conference worse than none"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] On the 29th, the People’s Party harshly criticized Yoon Mihyang, the elected member of the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding her explanatory press conference, stating, "It was a press conference that felt disrespectful even to see her standing in the National Assembly as an elected representative of the people."
Spokesperson Ahn Hyejin issued a statement on the same day, expressing this criticism.
He said, "The words of apology were merely a means to open the door to excuses, and only the sweat dripping from her mechanical reading, devoid of emotional disturbance or signs of remorse, proved that she is a living person," adding, "She failed to clearly explain any of the suspicions regarding the usage of the billions in donations that angered the public, the source of her study abroad funds, or the use of condolence money."
Spokesperson Ahn emphasized, "It was a press conference that was 'worse than not holding one' as she added nothing but unnecessary words and solely tried to defend herself," and warned, "If she thought she could endure one day using the convenient excuse of a prosecution investigation and hide behind the National Assembly badge to somehow evade the situation, it is a grave misjudgment."
He added, "Ultimately, all truths will be revealed. We hope that Yoon, the elected member, acknowledges her mistakes even now, voluntarily relinquishes her status as an elected member of the National Assembly, and does her best in the prosecution’s investigation to take the 'corresponding responsibility' she mentioned."

He also urged the Democratic Party, saying, "The Democratic Party, which caused public concern through improper candidate nominations for the National Assembly, should not hide behind the prosecution and Yoon and block their ears, but rather take the lead with a more responsible attitude than anyone else to thoroughly uncover all suspicions."
