Public Shopping, Domestic Disposable Masks Sold Out in 5 Minutes
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Public Shopping announced on the 29th that 100,000 units of the ‘Weguard Domestic Disposable Masks’ sold out within 5 minutes during a 'Sudden Chance' broadcast. This is attributed to the shortage of disposable masks caused by the rising temperatures and the start of in-person classes for elementary, middle, and high schools.
The masks were sold through a 'Sudden Chance' segment that began unexpectedly during the broadcast with the host's announcement, and all 100,000 units (2,000 sets) prepared were completely sold out.
The price was 24,900 KRW per set (50 masks), which amounts to 498 KRW per mask. Public Shopping limited purchases to one set per ID to allow as many customers as possible to buy the product.
Made of three layers of non-woven fabric, the product effectively blocks foreign substances. Public Shopping explained that amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, these masks can be worn relatively comfortably during the hot summer.
