Guro-gu Awarded Best District in Seoul Eco-Mileage Evaluation
Performance evaluation of operations conducted from October last year to March this year across 25 autonomous districts... Full marks received for group membership, promotion, and head of institution interest... Incentive of 15.5 million KRW awarded
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) was selected as the best district in the first half of 2020 Seoul Eco Mileage evaluation.
With this award, it will receive a prize of 15.5 million KRW.
Seoul City evaluated the Eco Mileage operation performance from October last year to March this year for 25 autonomous districts, focusing on membership registration, interest of institution heads, member information management, and promotion.
Guro-gu achieved consistently good results in all categories. In particular, it received full marks in group membership registration, promotion, and institution head interest.
Guro-gu carried out various activities to revitalize Eco Mileage.
Using the district office homepage, newsletters, and bulletin boards, it promoted the system to residents and encouraged new registrations by linking with community centers, neighborhood leaders, professional organizations, and environmental groups.
In the second half of last year, campaigns were also conducted at local events such as the Anyangcheon Walking Festival and children's flea market. Although most events were canceled this year due to COVID-19, participation of group members was encouraged through phone guidance and distribution of promotional materials targeting local shops and businesses. Mayor Lee Seong also supported these efforts through commendations for contributors and discussions on revitalization plans.
A Guro-gu official stated, “This best district award is the result of active participation and efforts by residents and staff,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to protect the environment by saving energy and to create a green city Guro where residents can live in a pleasant environment.”
Eco Mileage is a resident participation system that provides incentives to individuals or groups based on their energy-saving performance every six months by reducing electricity, water, city gas, and other energy usage. The mileage can be used for purchasing eco-friendly products, paying local taxes, and more.
