Busan Office of Education to Hold Military Academy Admission Briefing via YouTube
Online Guidance and Consultation for Entrance Exam Information of Gongsa, Yuksa, Haesa, and Ganhosa Officer Schools
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold an online admissions briefing session for the 2021 academic year military academy entrance examination through its YouTube channel from 1 PM to 5 PM on the 30th, targeting students, parents, and teachers.
At the briefing, admission officials from four military academies?the Air Force Academy, the Armed Forces Nursing Academy, the Army Academy, and the Naval Academy?will provide information about their schools and admissions strategies, followed by answering questions posted in the comments.
These military academies will begin accepting applications on July 10 and simultaneously conduct the first round of exams on August 15. The dates for the second round of exams vary by academy, so applicants should refer to each school's specific schedule.
For the Air Force Academy, a total of 215 students will be recruited for the 2021 academic year, including 172 through priority selection and 43 through comprehensive selection. The priority selection consists of approximately 157 general and 15 special candidates. Unlike the previous year, when priority selection was 100% without requiring CSAT scores, the comprehensive selection has been reinstated this year, and the special selection for language proficiency has been abolished.
The Armed Forces Nursing Academy will recruit 90 students for the 2021 academic year, the same as the previous year: 42 through priority selection, 42 through comprehensive selection, and 6 through special selection. The special selection includes two candidates each from equal opportunity, grandchildren of independence activists and children of national merit recipients, and overseas Korean children.
The gender selection ratio is approximately 10% male and 90% female, which is higher in female representation compared to other military academies, and the comprehensive selection ratio in the general admission track is also notably high.
The Army Academy will recruit a total of 330 students for the 2021 academic year: 196 through priority selection (98 school principal recommendations and 98 aptitude excellence), 116 through comprehensive selection, and 18 through special selection. The special selection includes grandchildren of independence activists, children of national merit recipients, and equal opportunity candidates.
The gender distribution is 290 males (87.9%) and 40 females (12.1%). Among the 290 males, 50% are from humanities and 50% from sciences; among the 40 females, 60% are humanities and 40% sciences. The most significant change is the abolition of the general admission priority selection.
The Naval Academy will recruit a total of 170 students for the 2021 academic year: 128 through priority selection (approximately 34 school principal recommendations and 94 general priority), 34 through comprehensive selection, and 8 through special selection.
The special selection includes 2 independence activists, 4 equal opportunity candidates, and 2 overseas Korean children. The gender distribution is 150 males and 20 females. The language proficiency selection has been abolished.
This online admissions briefing will be broadcast live on the city education office’s ‘Daehak Gonggam Ttokttok Tok’ YouTube channel. The video replay will be available on the Busan Career and Academic Support Center website.
