Honam University Receives A Grade in Industry-Linked Education Activation Leading University Project Evaluation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Honam University (President Park Sangcheol) announced on the 28th that it received an 'A grade' in the '1st Year Annual Evaluation of Post-Management for the Industry-Linked Education Activation Leading University (PRIME) Project' conducted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
The PRIME project was highly evaluated for ▲appropriately designing an innovative curriculum model reflecting social demand, ▲making great efforts to establish a quality management system for operation, and ▲especially reflecting the era's demands well in the specialized autonomous electric vehicle field such as the 4th Industrial Revolution, AI, and SW.
The PRIME project is an initiative by the Ministry of Education to create new demand in higher education and resolve workforce mismatches through educational reform in universities responding to social changes and industrial demands, fostering differentiated regional talents suited to local conditions and characteristics.
Among the 21 universities selected nationwide in 2016, Honam University was the only one selected in the Gwangju area.
As a result, it received 13 billion KRW in support over three years until February last year, carrying out academic structure reforms aligned with social demand, establishing an innovative education system, and improving the educational environment.
Post-management of the project is expected to continue for five years after the project's conclusion to maintain the major achievements of the PRIME project.

Yoo Yongmin, Director of the PRIME Project Promotion Office, said, "The university's efforts to maintain the innovative education system and infrastructure established through the PRIME project have been recognized," adding, "We will continue to sustain the achievements of the PRIME project and advance as an AI (Artificial Intelligence) specialized university through the dissemination of these results."
