Jeonnam Police Conduct Additional Search of Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Over Supply Corruption Allegations
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam police have conducted an additional raid on the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education in connection with allegations of corruption involving blackout screens supplied to schools in Jeonnam.
On the 28th, according to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, the Intelligent Crime Investigation Unit of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency searched some departments including the main office facilities.
Earlier, in June last year, the police conducted a first raid on the blackout screen supplier and some departments of the education office, and at that time, five people including company officials and brokers were booked without detention on charges of fraud.
They are suspected of supplying blackout screens to schools in the Jeonnam area through the Public Procurement Service from the end of 2016 to 2018, installing products with lower specifications than those stipulated in the contract.
Accordingly, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education requested a police investigation into the corruption related to blackout screens at the end of 2018.
