Seoul COVID-19 Cases Increase by 21 in One Day... Total 17 Related to 'Coupang Logistics Center'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As a result of the cluster infection of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that occurred at the Coupang logistics center in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, 11 confirmed cases were reported in Seoul within a day. The number of new patients increased by 21, including those related to the Itaewon clubs and confirmed cases whose infection routes are still being investigated.
As of 10 a.m. on the 28th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul reached 828, an increase of 21 from the same time the previous day.
Among them, confirmed cases related to the Bucheon Coupang logistics center increased by 11 from the previous day, totaling 17. Two confirmed cases were classified as related to the Itaewon clubs, two were confirmed cases who entered from overseas, and the remaining six are under investigation by health authorities to determine their infection routes.
Accordingly, among the confirmed COVID-19 cases identified in Seoul so far, 621 patients have been declared recovered and discharged, while 203 are undergoing isolation treatment.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to closely monitor the situation and focus on preventing further spread as the scale of infections originating from the Coupang logistics center continues to expand.

Additionally, starting from the 31st of this month, proactive testing will begin for students of 72 schools operating dormitories in Seoul and employees of English kindergartens located in Seocho-gu. Proactive testing will also be promoted among the general public through open recruitment.
