COVID-19 Resurgence from Coupang Logistics Center... Confirmed Cases Increase to 30
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which is spreading again centered around the Coupang Bucheon logistics center, is spreading throughout the Seoul metropolitan area.
Incheon City announced that as of 3 p.m. on the 27th, a total of 30 confirmed COVID-19 cases related to the Bucheon logistics center have been recorded. This number includes one resident of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and one resident of Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, who were tested for COVID-19 in Incheon.
Among the remaining 28 confirmed cases, 15 were residents of Bupyeong-gu, the highest number, followed by 11 residents of Gyeyang-gu and 2 residents of Yeonsu-gu.
After one Bucheon resident tested positive on the 25th, 10 cases were confirmed on the 26th, and 19 additional confirmed cases occurred on the same day.
Of these 30 confirmed cases, 22 were identified as employees of the Bucheon logistics center, and the remaining 8 were family members or others related to confirmed cases from the logistics center.
On the 23rd, a Bucheon logistics center employee, A (43, female) residing in Sangok-dong, Bupyeong-gu, and her 17-year-old son, who were the first to be confirmed positive among the logistics center workers, were not included in this statistic.
A was classified as infected through a buffet restaurant, not the Coupang logistics center, as she had visited the Bucheon Raon Party buffet restaurant on the 9th to attend a first birthday party of an acquaintance's family.
Incheon City reported that among the 4,015 people related to the Bucheon logistics center workers, 1,469 reside in the Incheon area.
These include workers who worked at the Coupang Bucheon logistics center from the 12th to the 24th of this month, part-time workers, and employees of partner companies.
Incheon City is conducting specimen tests on these individuals, and as of 3 p.m. on the day, 30 tested positive and 942 tested negative.
The test results for the remaining 354 have not yet been released, and 143 are scheduled to be tested later.
In Bucheon, where the Coupang logistics center is located, a total of 7 people, including 5 additional confirmed cases on the same day, have been infected with COVID-19 so far.
All of them are employees of the logistics center and reside in areas such as Simgokbon-dong, Okgil-dong, and Songnae-dong in Bucheon, and also include residents of Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
