According to the county, the ‘Restaurant Standing Table Replacement Support Project’ is being promoted for general restaurants to provide convenience to disabled people, the elderly, pregnant women, foreigners, and others who feel uncomfortable using traditional floor seating tables.
Recently, thanks to the high satisfaction and response from customers, the number of applicants for standing tables has surged, leading to an additional budget of 40 million KRW secured by the county to expand and promote the replacement project for about 15 locations.
The project targets general restaurants whose business owners have their address registered in Imsil-gun and are currently operating.
The county selected a total of 13 locations after a first round of document and on-site inspections and a second round of review by the Imsil-gun Sanitation Business Support Deliberation Committee.
The selected businesses will receive a subsidy covering 70% of the budget within a maximum of 10 million KRW (30% provincial funds, 40% county funds).
However, businesses that have received administrative sanctions such as business suspension under the Food Sanitation Act within the past year or are currently under such sanctions are excluded from support.
One restaurant owner who received support said, “Many customers wanted standing tables, but the cost was burdensome and we couldn’t even consider it. We are very happy to replace them with the county’s support,” adding, “Customers are very pleased, and employees find it comfortable to serve food without having to stoop.”
The county expects that the restaurant standing table replacement support project will improve the dining culture environment, allowing residents such as foreigners and the elderly to use restaurants more conveniently and spreading a culture of consideration.
