Gyeonggi Firefighting Workplace Council Launched After 22 Years
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Firefighters' Workplace Council will be launched next month.
The Gyeonggi-do Fire Disaster Headquarters announced that on the 27th, they held a briefing session for the staff in charge ahead of the launch of the Firefighters' Workplace Council on the 11th of next month. Since the enactment of the Public Officials Workplace Council Act in 1998, there has been no workplace council for firefighters for 22 years.
At the briefing session, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters provided guidance on the establishment procedures of the workplace council, membership enrollment and withdrawal, and operational methods to the administrative team leaders and staff of the Gyeonggi Fire School and the 24 fire stations under its jurisdiction. They also explained the draft rules for the establishment and operation of the workplace council article by article.
The Gyeonggi Firefighters' Workplace Council is being launched following the recent amendment of the Enforcement Decree of the Public Officials Workplace Council Act by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Accordingly, firefighters below the rank of Fire Captain, who were previously prohibited from joining the workplace council, can now newly join. The workplace council will work to improve the rights and interests of public officials by enhancing working conditions, improving work efficiency, and handling grievances.
