[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] As of the 27th, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) related to the Coupang Bucheon Logistics Center has reached 25 in Incheon alone. However, since more than 1,400 Incheon residents work at this logistics center, there is a high possibility of additional confirmed cases.
According to Incheon City on the 27th, starting with A (38, male, Incheon confirmed case No. 147), a Bucheon resident who was confirmed positive on the 25th, the number increased to 25 by noon of the same day. Among them, 20 were workers at the Coupang Bucheon Logistics Center, and 6 were their family members or close contacts.
There are 12 residents from Bupyeong-gu, the highest number, 10 from Gyeyang-gu, and 1 from Yeonsu-gu. One resident from Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and one resident from Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, who were tested for COVID-19 in Incheon, were also included in Incheon City's statistics.
Incheon City did not include B (43, female, Incheon confirmed case No. 142), the first confirmed case among Coupang Bucheon Logistics Center workers on the 23rd, and her 17-year-old son in the Coupang-related confirmed cases.
B had visited the Raon Party buffet restaurant in Bucheon on the 9th to attend a first birthday party of an acquaintance's family, so the infection route was classified as the birthday party restaurant, not the Coupang logistics center.
Incheon City identified that among the 4,015 people subject to diagnostic testing, including regular workers at the Coupang Bucheon Logistics Center, 1,459 are Incheon residents. These include workers, part-time employees, subcontractors, and interviewees at the Coupang logistics center from the 12th to the 24th.
The city is conducting specimen tests on them, and as of the morning of the day, 25 tested positive and 941 tested negative. Three hundred tests are still in progress.
The city is reinforcing nine medical personnel at the health centers of Bupyeong-gu and Gyeyang-gu, where many people are subject to testing, and is guiding Incheon residents working at the logistics center and their contacts to get tested promptly regardless of symptoms.
