Jeonbuk Province and Jeonbuk National Assembly Members-Elect 'Put Heads Together' for Jeonbuk Development
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] Jeonbuk Province and the elected members of the 21st National Assembly from the Jeonbuk region held a policy meeting and agreed to join forces to resolve Jeonbuk issues.
On the 26th, the province held a policy meeting in the large conference room of the provincial office with eight elected members of the 21st National Assembly from the province to share the province’s core policies, major issues, bills, and plans to secure the 2021 national budget, discussing ways to promote Jeonbuk’s development.
This meeting, held four days before the elected members enter the National Assembly, is significant in that it enhanced understanding of provincial administration and strengthened the will to cooperate.
The meeting began with greetings from Governor Song Ha-jin and the elected members, followed by explanations and discussions on major provincial projects.
The explanation of major provincial projects covered core policies such as the Asia Smart Agricultural Life Valley, major issues including COVID-19 response, pending bills such as the Public Medical School Act, and plans to secure the 2021 national budget.
The province’s core policies were explained according to the five major goals of the provincial administration: ▲ progress on the Asia Smart Agricultural Life Valley, a presidential pledge project; ▲ progress on innovation growth in the commercial vehicle industry and the establishment of a future-oriented industrial ecosystem; ▲ achievements in restoring Jeonbuk’s pride, re-examining historical culture, and discovering clean tourism resources such as ecological healing; ▲ in the Saemangeum area, expansion of Saemangeum SOC including the East-West Road, international airport, and new port, acceleration of internal development such as leased industrial complex sites and Saemangeum waterfront city; ▲ in safety, welfare, environment, and balance sectors, improvements in the three major harmful environments including fine dust, odor, and waste, and expansion of public health care facilities infrastructure in the eastern region.
The elected members showed high interest in major issues and bills.
Discussions were held on COVID-19 response, two major carbon industry issues including the establishment of the Carbon Industry Promotion Agency and designation of the Carbon Regulation-Free Special Zone, designation of the third financial hub, additional relocation of public institutions, reactivation of Gunsan shipyard, construction of the National Jeonbuk Science Museum, preliminary feasibility study projects, and inclusion in the national mid- to long-term comprehensive plan.
