Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters Lends Support to Overcome COVID-19 Crisis
Donation of Health Supplies Worth 20 Million Won
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters (Head Han Sang-wook) contributed to overcoming the COVID-19 crisis.
The Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea (Chairman No Dong-il) announced on the 25th that Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters donated health supplies worth 20 million won on the 22nd.
The delivery ceremony held at Yeonggwang Public Health Center was attended by Kim Doo-sung, Head of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters, Yoon Sung-hee, Director of Yeonggwang Public Health Center, and Oh Se-heon, Manager of Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea.
The health supplies donated by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters (non-contact thermometers, disposable gloves, masks) will be delivered to three Yeonggwang screening clinics (Yeonggwang Christian Hospital, Yeonggwang General Hospital, Yeonggwang Public Health Center) and two Gochang screening clinics (Gochang Hospital, Gochang Public Health Center).
Deputy Director Kim Doo-sung said, “As COVID-19 prolongs, the difficulties of neighbors from all walks of life and healthcare workers are increasing,” and added, “We hope this support of health supplies will be helpful in this situation.”
Earlier, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters voluntarily returned wages last month to share the pain of COVID-19 and support neighbors in crisis, collecting 64 million won, which was used to provide food supplies to 294 low-income individuals, 138 senior centers, and 10 local children’s centers.
Meanwhile, Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters, located in Yeonggwang, is the only large-scale nuclear power complex on the west coast and currently operates six pressurized water reactors. It produces a total of 590 kW of electricity, about 10% of South Korea’s power consumption.
It also operates a renewable energy solar park capable of supplying electricity to approximately 7,500 households.

As part of its CSR, Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters runs a social service group under three themes: hopeful future, sharing love, and clean environment. It carries out customized social contribution activities in the region using the ‘Dandelion Seed Fund,’ which combines voluntary employee donations called the ‘Love Fund’ and the company’s matching grants.
