An Infected Person in the Community Reported in Gyeongbuk Province After 18 Days

According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 22nd, two people in Gumi City were confirmed positive for COVID-19 the previous day, increasing the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Gyeongbuk Province to 1,328. The two confirmed cases are the student who entered the Daegu Agricultural Meister High School dormitory from home in Gumi and his older brother, a university student.
Excluding overseas arrivals, community infections in Gyeongbuk Province have occurred for the first time in 18 days since the 4th, and in Gumi City, it is the first case in 54 days since March 27. The high school student's older brother has been staying at home recently as his university has not yet started the semester.
A Gyeongbuk Province official stated, "Those who had close contact with the confirmed cases, including the student's family, have entered self-quarantine," and added, "We are conducting specimen tests to check for additional infections."

Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients in Gyeongbuk Province increased to 1,228 with four discharges the previous day, resulting in a recovery rate of 92.4%. The death toll remains at 58. Currently, 41 COVID-19 patients are being treated at seven hospitals nationwide, including the National Medical Center.
