Bucheon Apartment Manager's Extreme Choice... Police Launch Internal Investigation into 'Resident Power Harassment'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Claims have been raised that an apartment security guard in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, made an extreme choice due to abuse of power by residents.
According to Bucheon Wonmi Police Station on the 21st, a woman in her 60s, A, the apartment manager, was found dead in a flower bed at an apartment in Bucheon City around 8:30 a.m. on the 29th of last month.
The police believe A made an extreme choice based on CCTV footage from nearby showing her going alone to the rooftop. No suicide note was found at the scene.
The bereaved family reportedly stated during the police investigation that “A had said she was under a lot of work-related stress due to apartment-related complaints.” Apartment residents also said, “There was a minor dispute with some residents regarding hot water pipe construction.”
At A’s residence, a work notebook was also found containing words such as ‘extortion and threat,’ ‘breach of trust,’ ‘document destruction,’ ‘disparaging remarks about the female manager,’ and ‘frequent disparaging remarks.’
The police have started an internal investigation and plan to conduct a formal investigation if a resident who verbally abused A is identified. A police official said, “No evidence suggesting resident abuse was detected in A’s belongings found at the scene,” adding, “Details cannot be disclosed as the investigation is ongoing.”
