Yeosu Industrial Complex Employment Gateway 'Yeosu Technician School 11th Class Opening'
Selected 50 out of 8.8:1 Competition, Average Employment Rate 92% from 2010 to 2019
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The opening ceremony of the 11th 'Technician School,' a gateway for young people in the Yeosu area to get jobs at the Yeosu National Industrial Complex, was held on the 20th at the Technician School training center.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Kwon Oh-bong, Mayor of Yeosu, Park Hyun-chul, Chairman of the Yeosu Industrial Complex Factory Managers' Association, Kwak Dong-hyun, Director of the Technician School, trainees, and parents.
The 11th Technician School operates as a regular course from March to October, but due to COVID-19, classes had been conducted online and in small groups. Starting with this opening ceremony, the full-scale employment training course begins.
The curriculum consists of personality education optimized for employment at the Yeosu National Industrial Complex, on-site practical training, and technical and English education to enhance expertise.
Earlier, the city selected a final 50 trainees through document screening, written tests, aptitude and personality tests, and interviews in January and February. A total of 444 people applied, showing a high competition rate of 8.8 to 1.
Since the first class in 2010, Technician School has graduated 372 people up to the 10th class last year, with 343 employed at the Yeosu National Industrial Complex and leading domestic large companies, demonstrating a high employment rate of 92.2% and proving its competitiveness.
Additionally, the 'Technician School Scholarship Association,' voluntarily established by the trainees, provides scholarships to underprivileged youth in the region, leading positive changes in the local community beyond individual development.
Kwon Oh-bong, Mayor of Yeosu, stated, "I hope that during the training period, trainees will study hard and acquire skills to get employed at their desired companies, and after employment, grow into great local contributors who can give back the benefits received from the region to society and our juniors."
