'Vanished Time' Jo Jin-woong: "In Difficult Times of COVID-19, I Will Rightly Repay with Good Works"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Jo Jin-woong and director Jung Jin-young shared their thoughts on releasing a film amid the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus infection) pandemic.
On the morning of the 21st, the production presentation for the film Disappeared Time was held via online live broadcast, featuring actor Jo Jin-woong and director Jung Jin-young.
Regarding releasing a film during the COVID-19 situation, Jo Jin-woong said, “The essence of theater and film has spread in ways that greatly influence human recreational activities. The essence does not change. Perhaps films serve as a reward for people living through tough daily lives. When humans engage in social and various activities, art is also important. Cultural value must continue as long as humanity exists, so the COVID-19 crisis cannot hinder culture and art.”
He continued, “Currently, it is indeed a difficult time. We have to practice social distancing, so how can people gather and cheer together? However, artists will continue to create content. Especially at times like this, I believe it is important for us to be aware and create opportunities to provide proper and good cultural arts.”
Director Jung Jin-young said, “I am concerned about the COVID-19 situation. We cannot invite audiences while the situation is unstable. Thorough quarantine and safety measures must be taken. We will also be able to release the film in a safe environment. Please watch over us as we carefully proceed with the release.”
Disappeared Time is a film about a detective investigating a mysterious fire case who faces a shocking situation where everything he believed in disappears, leading him to find his own life. It is actor Jung Jin-young’s directorial debut. Jo Jin-woong plays Detective Hyung-gu, who investigates a mysterious fire case in a quiet rural village where an outsider couple dies. The film will be released on June 18.
