"Receive Otter Emoticons and Join Daily Quarantine" ... Daegu City Distributes to 50,000 People
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 21st that starting from 2 PM on the 22nd, it will produce otter emoticons themed on daily quarantine guidelines for COVID-19 and distribute them free of charge to the first 50,000 people via KakaoTalk.
The newly created 'Daily Quarantine Otter Emoticons' consist of 16 types designed with witty phrases and actions based on Daegu City's seven basic daily guidelines, using expressions commonly used in everyday life.
Daegu City explained that the otter emoticons distributed during last Lunar New Year received very positive responses from citizens, and noticing the great influence of SNS promotions like KakaoTalk across various age groups, they produced the daily quarantine otter emoticons.
Instead of delivering messages directly, the emoticons humorously depict everyday situations to minimize citizens' resistance and increase usability.
Those who wish to get the emoticons can search for 'Daegu City Hall' in the KakaoTalk friend search menu and add the 'Daegu City Hall' channel as a new friend to download the emoticons free of charge for the first 50,000 people. They can be used for 90 days thereafter.
To allow diverse use beyond KakaoTalk and other SNS, the otter emoticon files (in gif format) can also be downloaded anytime through Daegu City's official website.
