According to the Ministry of Education on the 20th, on the first day of school reopening for 3rd-year high school students, the attendance of 75 schools in Incheon and Anseong, Gyeonggi Province was suspended, prompting the Ministry to reconsider whether to proceed with the academic evaluation as planned. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye canceled her originally scheduled visit to Annam High School in Incheon and is currently in discussions with Incheon City and the City Office of Education regarding the academic evaluation and the resumption of school attendance.
In the case of Incheon, two 3rd-year high school students tested positive for COVID-19 at 6 a.m. today, leading to the suspension of attendance at nearby schools. However, as it was reported that many students had contact with the infected students, attendance was suspended at 66 schools across five districts. Students at these schools were unable to attend as scheduled and had to turn back. In Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, a confirmed case also emerged on the same day, resulting in the suspension of high school attendance.
The attendance status of 3rd-year high school students in the Incheon area, where attendance has been suspended, remains undecided, making the implementation of the academic evaluation uncertain.
This test is effectively the first mock exam for the College Scholastic Ability Test. Last month's academic evaluation was conducted remotely and did not process scores on a nationwide scale. This exam, organized by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, was scheduled to have 1,835 schools nationwide participate.
