Daegu City to Create Forest Recreation Space on Choejeongsan... Plans Land Exchange with Ministry of National Defense
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 20th that it has completed the blueprint for creating a forest recreation space on Choejeongsan Mountain located in Dalseong-gun.
The basic plan service for the forest recreation area to be developed around Choejeongsan began in February. Covering about 30 hectares, Daegu City’s plan is to preserve the natural scenery as much as possible while providing minimal facilities for forest experiences, healing, and relaxation, with completion targeted by the end of 2022.
The site planned for the Choejeongsan forest recreation space is state-owned land that was formerly a U.S. military observation post. Currently, a military unit is stationed at the summit of Choejeongsan, and Daegu City is working with the Ministry of National Defense to exchange national and public property.
The area is well equipped with forest roads, the Choejeongsan Nuri-gil trail, and ecological exploration paths. Daegu City explains that by effectively utilizing the existing forest infrastructure, the area will be transformed into a space where people can enjoy leisure activities such as forest sports. In particular, the naturally formed silver grass colonies are expected to become a tourist course, and the small wetlands formed in the area are anticipated to be popular as ecological experience sites.
