Seogwipo Police Station announced on the 20th that they had sent A (53) to the prosecution in custody on charges of attempted murder.
A is accused of stabbing B (55), a woman he was dating, with a weapon in a house located in Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City, Jeju, at around 1:58 a.m. on the 13th, after getting into an argument and becoming enraged by the breakup notice.
According to the police, A fled the scene immediately after the crime but was arrested by police lying in wait on a road in Goseong-ri, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City that evening.
On that day, B was seriously injured by the weapon wielded by A and was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery; it was confirmed that her life was not in danger.
