Chief Justice Nominates Attorney Jo Hyun-wook for Reappointment as Non-standing Member of National Human Rights Commission
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] On the 20th, the Supreme Court announced that Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo has reappointed lawyer Cho Hyun-wook as a non-standing member of the National Human Rights Commission.
The Human Rights Commission consists of 4 members elected by the National Assembly, 4 members appointed by the President, and 3 members appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, with a term of 3 years.
Commissioner Cho was appointed as a human rights commissioner in May 2017 and is recognized for contributing to improving discrimination against socially vulnerable groups in areas such as the Disability Discrimination Remedy Committee.
In particular, he participated in recommendations for joining conventions related to freedom of association of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and worked to improve discrimination against minorities, such as restrictions on club entry based on race or skin color.

Commissioner Cho served as a judge at the Incheon District Court and other courts from 2000 to 2008, and after opening his law practice, he engaged in activities such as legal support for persons with disabilities and free legal aid for victims of sexual violence.
