[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] NCSoft announced on the 20th that it will conduct the AI talent development program '2020 NC Fellowship.'
NC Fellowship is a program where AI and computer science clubs from major domestic universities participate to gain experience and knowledge in AI research through education and task execution. Over the course of one year, participants work on projects alongside NCSoft's AI researchers to support their growth as AI talents. This is the third year since the program started in 2018.
This year, a total of 16 teams from 8 university clubs across the country will participate. Starting with an orientation session, the program proceeds through summer and winter vacations with preliminary tasks, online AI education, and AI development assignments.
Participants will carry out tasks to develop mini-game AI by applying the latest AI algorithms, including deep learning. The goal is to train in developing AI for strategy RTS (Real Time Strategy) games, which involves producing and controlling units within the game to overpower opponents.
At the end of the program, participants will present their final results, and a league competition will be held where the game AIs developed by each team compete to determine rankings. Prize money totaling 10 million KRW will be awarded to the first-place winning team and the second-place runner-up team. Outstanding participants will be offered internship opportunities at NC AI Center.
Lee Kyung-jong, head of the Game AI Lab at NC AI Center, said, "NC Fellowship is a program where participants can systematically learn and experience AI technology to grow as AI talents," adding, "We hope to join the start where participants can develop their expertise through hands-on experience in game AI development."
