The Central District Prosecutors' Office Transfers Three Cases of 'Yoon Mi-hyang Accusation' to the Western District Prosecutors' Office for Joint Investigation of Donation Embezzlement Allegations
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office has been assigned to handle various complaint cases against Yoon Mi-hyang, the elected member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea (age 55), and the Justice and Memory Foundation (Jeonguiyeon).
According to the prosecution on the 20th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office transferred three complaint cases requesting investigation into Yoon and Jeonguiyeon for charges including breach of trust in the course of business to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office on the 14th and 19th.
Previously, 'Citizens for Active Freedom' and the 'Coalition for the Restoration of the Rule of Law' (Beopse-ryeon) filed complaints with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office regarding allegations of embezzlement of donations and suspicions related to the purchase and sale of a shelter for comfort women victims in Anseong.
With this transfer of cases, it appears that the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the financial management aspects of the allegations. It is highly likely that the Criminal Division 4 (Chief Prosecutor Choi Ji-seok) of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, which is currently investigating the allegations surrounding Yoon and Jeonguiyeon, will take charge.
However, the complaint case requesting investigation into Yoon, the former director of Jeonguiyeon, for child abuse and violation of the Youth Protection Act on the grounds that the Wednesday demonstrations for resolving the comfort women issue constitute emotional abuse against adolescents, has been assigned to the Criminal Division 9 (Chief Prosecutor Ahn Dong-wan) of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.
Meanwhile, Beopse-ryeon announced on the morning of the same day that they would file an additional complaint for violation of the Telecommunications Business Act, alleging that Yoon spread false information during the process of explaining the source of funds for purchasing an apartment in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

Beopse-ryeon stated, "Claiming false facts about the source of the auction payment can be seen as an act for personal benefit such as avoiding criminal punishment, preserving assets, and retaining the parliamentary seat," and added, "The acts of giving media interviews and distributing press releases constitute false communication through telecommunications equipment."
