Resumption of Mapo Art Center Operations... Flamenco on the 21st & Yongjae O'Neill Performance on the 26th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The Mapo Cultural Foundation will present the third performance of the no-audience live broadcast series "Enjoy Mapo Art Center at Home," titled "Ol?! Flamenco," at 3 p.m. on the 21st.
NA EM (Naem), Korea's first flamenco cantaora (flamenco singer), will perform to showcase the essence of Spanish flamenco. The performance video will be live-streamed via the Mapo Art Center Facebook and Mapo TV YouTube channels.
"Ol?! Flamenco" is the final performance in the "Enjoy Mapo Art Center at Home" series presented by the Mapo Cultural Foundation. Due to the spread of COVID-19, the foundation has been streaming tango and tap dance performances online as part of this series while performance venues remained closed.
With the recent easing of government social distancing measures, the Mapo Cultural Foundation will reopen the performance venue after about 100 days with violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill's "Pray for You" concert at 8 p.m. on the 26th at the Mapo Art Center Art Hall Mac.
"Pray for You" is a concert prepared by Yongjae O'Neill to deliver messages of comfort and encouragement to everyone going through difficult times due to COVID-19.
Violinist Yang In-mo, winner of the 2015 Paganini Competition, pianist Ilya Rashkovsky, and the DITTO Orchestra will perform together. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the concert will implement a "distanced seating system" and will be live-streamed on the Mapo Art Center Facebook and Mapo TV YouTube channels.
Additionally, the Mapo Cultural Foundation will urgently schedule its representative social contribution program "MAC 1,000 Won Cultural Sympathy," which usually runs only in even months, in May. Lee Jung-bong, the star of JTBC's Sugar Man Season 2 "God's Hit Songs Special," will perform hit songs such as "Eotteongayo" and "Geunyeoreul Wihae." The Lee Jung-bong live concert "Eotteongayo, Geudae," operated with distanced seating, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on the 28th and live-streamed via the Mapo Art Center Facebook and the live streaming platform Bbangya TV.
