On the 19th, Kim Seong-won, the United Future Party's senior deputy floor leader, told reporters, "This is an issue that has caused great public outrage," hinting at the possibility of such an investigation.
Floor spokesperson Bae Hyun-jin added, "From the perspective of the main opposition party, we have shown the will to push for a parliamentary investigation," but regarding future plans or progress, she said, "That is going too far. Please understand this as a statement of the party's level of awareness on the issue." She continued, "The practical matters can be observed after the 21st National Assembly begins."
The United Future Party is expected to bring the parliamentary investigation on Yoon Mi-hyang to the standing committee negotiation table if the allegations surrounding her are not properly resolved. The National Assembly can request a parliamentary investigation with the consent of at least one-quarter of the total members. Afterward, it must be approved by a plenary session to be executed. However, since the United Future Party does not hold a majority of seats, a parliamentary investigation is practically impossible without the Democratic Party's consent.
The Future Korea Party, the United Future Party's proportional satellite party, has also joined the effort to verify allegations against Yoon. On the same day, Won Yu-cheol, leader of the Korea Party, said at the Supreme Council meeting, "The Korea Party has formed a 'Yoon Mi-hyang-Justice and Memory Foundation Allegations Fact-Finding Task Force (TF)' centered on elected members Yoon Joo-kyung, Cho Tae-yong, and Jeon Ju-hye," adding, "We are also considering forming a joint TF with the United Future Party."
