Distribution of 'Wise One-Heart Life' Packages in Dong-gu, Gwangju
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 18th that it distributed ‘Wise One Mind Life’ packages to families of registered mental illness patients in the daytime support program due to the prolonged closure of the Dong-gu Mental Health Welfare Center caused by COVID-19.
Dong-gu has continuously provided individual care through phone monitoring to registered patients in order to minimize the usage gap of daytime support program members.
The ‘Wise One Mind Life’ package consists of self-learning tools that can help physical, psychological, and emotional treatment and stability, including ▲1st period Physical Education (latex band exercise) ▲2nd period Art (coloring mandalas and comic templates) ▲3rd period Home Economics and Technology (growing bean sprouts and cooking) ▲4th period Closing (mind record sheet).
Along with this, participants perform missions such as ‘Taking sky photos in the yard’ and check each other’s learning progress on the SNS communication platform Band, where they can also receive help from mental health professionals.
Dong-gu plans to distribute the packages not only to registered daytime support program members but also to about 100 mental illness patients receiving home care services, aiming to manage members more efficiently and actively.
Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, “As the COVID-19 situation prolongs, health management for vulnerable groups is more important than ever,” and added, “We hope that members and families of the Dong-gu Mental Health Welfare Center can overcome mental crises such as loss and depression through self-care using the distributed packages.”
