eBay Korea, Up to 50,000 Won Discount for One Day Only on the 19th 'Big Smile Day'
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] eBay Korea announced on the 17th that it will offer enhanced benefits linked to the ‘Smile Card’ on the first day of the year’s biggest shopping festival, ‘Big Smile Day,’ held on Gmarket, Auction, and G9.
On the 19th, the first day of Big Smile Day, eBay Korea will provide a maximum discount of 50,000 KRW on billing when paying 300,000 KRW or more with the Smile Card for one day only. Smile Club members can use discount coupons up to 300,000 KRW during the Big Smile Day period, and when combined with the Smile Card billing discount, the benefits become even greater.
The ‘Smile Card,’ a merchant-branded credit card first introduced in the open market in June 2018 through a partnership between eBay Korea and Hyundai Card, surpassed 830,000 subscribers as of May 15. The simple and intuitive benefit of earning up to 2% Smile Cash on every purchase at all domestic and international affiliated stores online and offline, without restrictions on performance or accumulation limits, has played a key role in increasing the frequency of Smile Card usage.
In particular, the more you use it together with eBay Korea’s representative services such as the easy payment system ‘Smile Pay,’ membership system ‘Smile Club,’ and dedicated delivery service ‘Smile Delivery,’ the more the accumulation benefits increase.
To suit the nature of issuance through online shopping platforms, the issuance process has also been innovatively simplified. Immediate screening is conducted upon application on Gmarket, Auction, and G9, significantly reducing card issuance time, and after screening is completed, the card is automatically registered in the easy payment system Smile Pay, allowing payment without a physical card.

An official from eBay Korea’s Smile Service Marketing Team said, “Using the Smile Card during Big Smile Day, when payment amounts increase, is a tip to increase billing discounts and accumulation benefits,” adding, “Especially when used in conjunction with the easy payment system ‘Smile Pay,’ the accumulation benefits are further amplified.”
